bia obi
(means “come, heart” in Igbo language)
Small schoolhouse meets garden plants oasis. Multi-age environment that elevates peer learning, project-based curriculum and community leadership. We combine research-based national and Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) standards with international approaches to develop curriculum.
Class activities focused on building relationships with land, learning and each other. Guided by highly qualified, passionate educators and community based leaders.
Our daily schedule is built around weaving joy for simple things, learning with local knowledge keepers, making connections with places around the world, and plant caretaking.
We draw on the knowledge young children and their families bring to the classroom in order to create curriculum.
We offer:
small class size,
research-based curriculum with individualized and child-interest based activities,
and exposure to new concepts in a caring environment.
